Setup of this Newton Webserver

This Server runs on a Message Pad 2100d, with the NPDS Software from http://npds.free.fr/.

The Newton 2100d is connected with a farallon PCMCIA 10Mbit/s Ethernet-Card to a DMZ that is managed by a Zywall 2 . The Newton has a dedicated static IP address with a RDNS entry (nws.guhl.net). Access is only possible on Port 8080 to keep to many robots/spambots away.

The internet connection used is a 15'000/1'000 kbit/s VDSL connection, soon to be upgraded to 20'000/1'000 kbit/s. In real life the VDSL connection performs excellent, giving a max. of 1200KB/s with Downloads and 120KB/s with uploads, depending of the destination/website/download site used.
